Newspaper Articles featuring Stables Family Members

This is a very interesting newspaper article taken from the Barnsley Chronicle that describes the wedding of Elizabeth Lawson (née Podmore) and Harry Royston that took place at Darfield on November 8th, 1905. Mrs George Stables (Mary Stables, b.1873 Barnsley, wife of George Henry Stables, b.1866 Darfield) is included in the guest list and she bought the happy couple a pair of sideboard covers.

A very pretty wedding which caused unusual interest, took place at the
Parish Church on Thursday week between Mrs Elizabeth LAWSON widow of the
late Mr Thomas LAWSON and eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs Lawton Podmore of
Garden Street Darfield and Mr Harry ROYSTONE second son of the late Mr Geo
ROYSTONE Snape Hill.
The bride was most attractively dressed in a brown costume and white silk
blouse , wearing a brown chiffon hat trimmed with chiffon and plumes. She
entered the church escorted by her brother Mr J.W. PODMORE who gave her
away. Mr T. ROYSTONE brother of the bridegroom who officiated as best man.
The bridesmaids were Misse's Lily and Betty Podmore sisters of the bride who
were prettily robed in blue dress skirts and white blouses with hats to
match. Upwards of (nothing was printed here) guests were invited to the
brides home where a reception was held. Miss LOY of Wombwell officiated at
the piano. During the afternoon the party of 14 enjoyed a lovely ride round
Hickleton and Goldthorpe. The Rev B. T. BARNES officiated at the ceremony.
