The Will of Anthony Stables

This is a full transcript of the Will of Anthony Stables who died at West Melton in Wath in 1647. I apologise that there are a number of words that I just can't read. The Will is held at the Borthwick Institute in York.

In the name of God: Amen. The one and twentieth day of December. Ann Im~ 1632, I Anthony Stable of West Melton in the County of York Taylor, being weake in bodie, yet of good and usual memorie I prayse god therefore do make & ordaine this my last Will and Testament in manner & forme followinge. First and principally I Commend my soule unto the hands of Almighty God my Creator trusting accordingly by the {illegible} death and {resurrection?} of Jesus Christ my only Saviour and redeemor And I commit my bodie to be buried in the churchyard of Wath upon Dearne or of where it shall please god appoynt; And first my will and mynd is that Isabell my wife shall have for hereover the free use of all my lands & tenements during her natural life, And that to making the disposition of said goods that God has bestowed upon me I give & bequeath the same hereafter following; First I give and bequeath unto Robert Stable my Son One Standbed wherein I doe finally lye, with all the bedding and furniture thereto belonginge And one Table with a {frame?} and two buffet {frames?} now standing in my house. The residue of all my goods and chattell I doe give and bequeath unto Anthony Stable my son, And my will and mynd is And I doe give devise and bequeath unto the said Anthony Stable my son and his heires ==== One bay of building in West Melton aforesaid wherein John Wharram now inhabiteth & dwelleth with free {two illegible words} within & from the same together with three half acres of arrable land lying in the three {Southill?} fields of West Melton aforesaid now in the tenancy of the said John {illegible word} and {illegible word} into & from the same together with the said other half acre of land unto the said Anthony Stable & his heires immediately after the decease of the said Isabell my wife To the only use and bequest of the said Anthonie Stable his heires and assignes for ever And I do make the said Isabell sole Executrix of this my last will and testament In witness hereof I have hereunto set my hand and seale the day & year above said.
