Waterloo Medal Roll

Five men with the surname Stables appear on the Waterloo Medal Roll. Only one of them, though, appears to be a member of the Yorkshire Stables family.

Daniel Stables - Private - 1st Regiment of Dragoons
Edward Stables - Lieutenant Colonel - 3rd Battalion Grenadier Regiment Foot Guards
George Stables - Gunner - Royal Horse and Foot Artillery
John Stables - Corporal - Light Company Grenadier Guards
John Stables - Serjeant - 2nd Battalion 3rd Regiment of Foot Guards

Daniel Stables (c1786-1839)

Daniel joined up in 1804 at the age of 18. In his service record he states he was born at Morley near Leeds and was a clothier. This may make him part of either the Horsforth or Calverley family, although at present, no baptism has been found. He fought at Waterloo and received an army pension in 1821. He married Hannah Turner at Batley in 1824 and died at Morley in 1839.
