William Stables, Deed for Sale of Land at Allerton Bywater, North Elmsall and Hemsworth - dated Feb 1776

An indenture of release bearing date the thirteenth day of February in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and seventy six made between George Whiteacre of Doncaster in the county of York Gentleman and Thomas Taylor of Pontefract in the said county Gentleman of the first part William Stables of Hemsworth in the said county Gentleman of the second part Thomas Hallott Hodges of Silby in the county of Nottingham esquire of the other part of and concerning all that one rood of land or thereabouts being parcel and lying on the east side of a croft or garth in Hemsworth aforesaid now or late in the occupation of John Clark as the same rood of land now is or lately was  marked and staked out which said croft except the said rood of land and also the messuage buildings falls yards and hereditaments situate therein were lately purchased by John Stocks of Linsley in the parish of Hemsworth aforesaid Gentleman from the said George Whiteacre and Thomas Taylor save and except full and free liberty and privileges for the said John Stocks his heirs and assigns to make a sewer water course or communication for water to run from the wells or spring which now is in the said rood of land into the fold yard and or other parts of the said messuage and croft abovementioned so as to supply the same with water and also the safe and acceptable and free liberty and privilege for him the said John Stocks his heirs and assigns from time to time and at all times for ever hereafter to repair scour cleanse support and maintain the said sewer watercourse or communication for water and for those purposes to enter in and upon the said rood of land from time to time and which said liberties and privileges the said George Whiteacre and Thomas Taylor have lately granted and conveyed to the said John Stocks and his heirs along with the said messuage croft and premises abovementioned and also all those two closes of arable meadows pasture ground lying and being in hemsworth aforesaid called the Royds [‘Top’ inserted] one of them containing by a survey lately made thereof seven acres one rood and thirty five perches the other of them five acres three roods and two perches which said closes were late in the tenure or occupation of the said John Clark also all those two other closes in Hemsworth aforesaid called Owle Closes one of them containing by the said survey four acres twenty six perches and the other of them two acres three roods and twenty five perches also all those several other closes parcels or incloses arable meadows or pasture ground situate lying and being at North Elmsall in the county of York called or known by the several names and containing according to the said survey several quantities of land hereinafter particularly mentioned that is to say the two Royd Hills one of them five acres and the other of them six acres and five perches the Bean Close and Little Broom Close two acres three roods and twenty-nine perches the Haigh Ing or Middle and Low Ing formerly in two parts six acres and one rood and thirty three perches the Broom Close or Great Broom Close eight acres and twenty eight perches and the Middle or Kiln Quicks eight acres and nine perches be the said closes or any of them more or less or be they or any of them called known or distinguished by the same or any other names or prescriptions all which said closes pieces or parcels of inclosed arable meadow or pasture ground last mentioned were late in the tenure or occupation of Widow Green her undertenants or assigns and all that piece or parcel of arable land of them the said George Whitacre and Thomas Taylor of what dimensions soever the same is lying and being in the church field of Hemsworth aforesaid between the lands belonging to Hemsworth Hospital on the east and John Rishworth on the west late in the occupation of the said widow Green together with all ways waters watercourses commons common or pasture privileges advantages or hereditaments and appurts whatsoever to the said premises belonging or in any wise appurtaining and also of and concerning all that messuage or tenement with the outbuildings foldsteads orchard and crofts thereto adjoining and belonging situate lying and being in Allerton Bywater in the said county of York now in the tenure or occupation of Mr James Green and also all those several closes pieces or parcels of enclosed ground therewith occupied called or known by the several names of Garth Close Lays Close and Cross Holmes all which said closes pieces or parcels of ground contain in whole by measure thirty four acres two roods and nine perches or thereabouts also one flatt near the gate in the west field of Allerton aforesaid containing by measure four acres three roods and thirty five perches or thereabouts also another flatt in the said field containing by measure three acres three roods and nine perches or thereabouts commonly called or known by the name of Carters Croft also several parcels of land lying disposed in a field called Letchmoor Field in Allerton Bywater aforesaid containing in the whole by measure six acres two roods and twenty-four perches also one land in a field in Allerton aforesaid called Sanders Field containing by measure two roods and thirty-one perches also in Allerton Ings called Cross Dale three acres two roods and four perches or thereabouts also fifteen beast gates in certain places in Allerton aforesaid called the Carr and Lechmeers and all with said premises are situate lying and being in Allerton Bywater aforesaid and are now in the tenure occupation of the said James Green at and under the yearly rent of sixty pounds and all other the messuages lands tenements and hereditaments whatsoever of him the said William Stables or wherein he hath any estate or interest situate lying and being in Allerton Bywater aforesaid together with all ways waters watercourses and privileges advantages commons common or pasture hereditaments and appurtences whatsoever to the said premises last above mentioned belonging or in any wise apptaining which said indenture is witnessed by William Wrightson Battie of Ensworth in the said county of York Esquire and John Fagan Betts of Pontefract aforesaid Gentleman

An indenture bearing date twentieth day of February in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and eighty two and made or mentioned to be made between Abel Taylor of Hemsworth in the county of York Apothecary and Isabella his wife of the one part and William Stables of Hemsworth aforesaid Gentleman of the other part of and concerning all that piece or parcel of ground situate lying and being at a certain place called Sandy Gate in Hemsworth aforesaid containing by estimation thirty perches be the same more or less theretofore in the possession of John Firth and now of the said William Stables together with all ways watercourses commons common or pasture privileges advantages hereditaments and appurtenances whatsoever to the same belonging or in any wise appurtaining or therewith usually here occupied or enjoyed which said indenture is witnessed by William Stables the younger of Hemsworth aforesaid Gentleman and William Battie of the same place Gentleman
