Some Tips for Searching

bulletIf you are looking for a Stables, use their forename only, e.g. use John rather than John Stables.
bulletIf you are interested in surnames other than Stables use the surname only, e.g. Hirst rather than Harry Hirst.
bulletIf you are interested in Stableses in a particular parish or place, enter the place-name only, e.g. Thorne.
bulletYou can search for parish register entries using the acronyms 'so' (son of), 'do' (daughter of) and 'wo' (wife of), e.g. entering so William will find all parish records of children born to William. Entering William Stables so Henry will find the records of Williams born to Henrys.
bulletBe aware that some common mis-spellings are quoted exactly as they appear in the original source document, so try several variations on the spelling, e.g. Samuel and Samual.
bulletTry variations of surnames, e.g. Haigh and Hague.
